Exploring the Mind Series: Working with Emotions

About the Teaching

In the Buddhist teachings there are a variety of practical techniques for investigating our mental and emotional states along with their causes and effects, and how to enhance the helpful ones and weaken the unhelpful ones. Through developing such skills in relating to our own emotions, we gain confidence in our abilities to navigate the stormy sea of human emotions and to arrive at a clearer understanding of our habits and their effects.

All are welcome; there is no prerequisite.

The workshop will feature brief explanations, guided meditations, and time for Q&A.

Realising the Dharma Series: Finding Inspiration and Appreciation

About the Teaching

When we are overwhelmed by stress and distress, we fall back on old, trusted coping mechanisms to deal with them and thereby keep us trapped in habituated reactive patterns. By finding and connecting with outer sources of inspiration, we open up and become receptive to our inner source of inspiration. We attend to our share of good fortune and happiness to awaken a sense of appreciative joy in our life. Uplifted and energised by these qualities, we would have found the fuel that is the basis for a change of heart.

The workshop will feature brief explanations, guided meditations, and time for Q&A.

All are welcome; no prerequisite needed.

Transforming Problems with Tonglen (taking and giving) Meditation

About the Teaching

The meditative practice called Tonglen in Tibetan, meaning taking-and-giving, is a powerful way to invoke and enhance our loving-kindness and compassion. We can apply these heartfelt qualities to the problematic areas of our life, helping us to shift perspective, let go of anger, guilt and fear, and find clarity and courage to face these issues. In this course, we will investigate the different aspects of tonglen meditation and deepen our cultivation of love and compassion.

Each session will feature explanation, guided meditations and time for Q&A.

All are welcome; no prerequisite needed.

Mindfulness for Peaceful and Difficult Times

About the Teaching

When we allow into our mindful awareness bodily experiences, feelings, the mind and other experiences, we get to learn about them, their nature and their mutual relationship. The interaction between our mindful attention and our experiences transforms our habitual reactivities, loosens old bondage, and promotes new, creative ways to respond to changes in our life. In this course, we will learn how to strengthen our natural mindfulness to become our valuable resource.

Each session will feature explanation, guided meditations and time for Q&A.

All are welcome; no prerequisite needed.

Chotrul Duchen: Shakyamuni Buddha Puja w Geshe Samten

About Losar

Chotrul Duchen (Day of Miracles) marks the end of the 15 Days of Miracles.

Chotrul Duchen, meaning “Great Day of Miraculous Manifestations”, is one of the four great holy days observed by Tibetan Buddhists, always occurring on the fifteenth day of the first lunar month in the Tibetan calendar. During this time, it is believed that the effects of both positive and negative actions are multiplied ten million times.

Join us to celebrate this holy day by reciting the Shakyamuni Buddha Puja (with Tsog offering) and making light offerings,  considered to remove obstacles and create conducive conditions for spiritual practice.

Advice from Lama Zopa Rinpoche for practices to do on merit multiplying days such as Chotrul Duchen can be found here.

All welcome. Offerings of flowers and fruit for puja appreciated
