Exploring the Path Series – Happy Steps to Enlightenment

About the Teaching

The three principal aspects of the Buddhist Path allow us to firstly emerge from dissatisfaction, open the heart to love and compassion, and lastly release our mind from self-imposed limitations. This is truly a path that goes from happiness to happiness as described by the Buddha. In this half-day workshop we will look at the meditative practices that nurture these qualities in our daily life and explore the benefits we can gain by putting these into practice.

All are welcome; no prerequisite required.

Each workshop consists of two sessions with a mixture of explanations, guided meditations and time for discussion or Q&A.

Exploring the Path Series – Foundation for Spiritual Awakening

About the Teaching

There are important practices that we can engage in right at the beginning of our Buddhist path to create the favourable conditions for developing deep insights and transformative experiences. These conditions can be compared to the life-giving water, nutrients and light that nurture the healthy growth of a seed into a plant. In this half-day workshop we will look at different contemplations that invoke our ability of imagination and recollection to gather and develop these conditions as the foundation of our awakening.

All are welcome; no prerequisite required.

Each workshop consists of two sessions with a mixture of explanations, guided meditations and time for discussion or Q&A.

Exploring the Truths Series – Exploring the Wheel of Life

About the Teaching

The Wheel of Life is a Buddhist depiction of the circumstances and driving forces of our daily experiences of happiness and suffering, providing a pictorial representation of the Buddhist teaching of Four Noble Truths. By contemplating the different aspects of this diagram, we can bring about a better understanding of our own situation and the underlying habitual tendencies that either help or hinder our search for fulfilment and satisfaction. In this half-day workshop we will engage in a series of guided meditations that reveal our own version of the Wheel of Life and the means to step out of it into a state of liberation from suffering.

All are welcome; no prerequisite required.

Each workshop consists of two sessions with a mixture of explanations, guided meditations and time for discussion or Q&A.

Exploring the Truths Series – Interdependence and Emptiness

About the Teaching

The two sides of the “coin” of reality are interdependence (also known as dependent origination) and emptiness, according to Mahayana Buddhism. Interdependence describes the mutually dependent relationship between phenomena and the varied conditions that give rise to and are supportive of them. Emptiness, on the other hand, highlights the complete absence of any independent, self-supporting entity in this vast network of relationships. In this workshop we will go through several guided meditations that connect these seemingly abstract ideas to our present experience and offer practical ways to implement them in our life that will enhance our relationship with self and others.

All are welcome; no prerequisite required.

Each workshop consists of two sessions with a mixture of explanations, guided meditations and time for discussion or Q&A.

Calm-Abiding – Blissful Abiding of Body and Mind

About the Teaching

In this meditation course we will look into creating the different conditions that facilitate the settling down of our body and mind, freeing them from the unnecessary tensions and agitation that disturb our peace and wellbeing. Through applying simple techniques in our meditation practice we can readily enhance the release of physical tensions, the experience of pleasant sensations coming from our meditation, and the calming of our mental processes so much so that both body and mind can actually abide in a state of blissful engagement in meditation. This in turn can benefit our life outside of meditation as we bring that sense of peace, calmness and mindful awareness into our daily interactions.

All are welcome; no prerequisite required.

Each session consists of a mixture of explanations, guided meditations and time for discussion or Q&A.
