In the whole of the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, there is no single treatise more deeply revered or widely practiced than A Guide to the Bodhisattva’s Way of Life. Composed in the eighth century by the Indian Bodhisattva Arya Shantideva, it became an instant classic in the curricula of the Buddhist monastic universities of India, and its renown has grown ever since.
Each month, Jampa will focus on a chapter in this classic text. These present methods to harmonise your life with the Bodhisattva ideal and inspire you to cultivate the perfections of the Bodhisattva: generosity, ethics, patience, zeal, meditative concentration and wisdom.

Jampa Ignyen (Ian Coghlan) is one of our resident teachers. He trained as a monk in the Tibetan Buddhist tradition for 20 years and completed his studies at Sera Je Monastic University in 1995. He is an adjunct research fellow at the School of Philosophical, Historical and International Studies, at Monash University; works as a translator for Canada’s Institute of Tibetan Classics, and holds a PhD in Asian Studies.
