From a Buddhist perspective, we continue to experience disappointment, frustration and dissatisfaction because we have a limited point of view that ignores levels of reality other than those we believe in or are presently capable of perceiving. We grow up with a model of ourselves and the world in which we put our trust but which is in many ways false. Simply put, we suffer because are we live our lives based on an inner network of misconceptions.

One of the optimistic aspects of Buddhism is that we do not have to weed out all of these misconceptions one by one. Rather, if we can pull out their lynchpin, ignorance, then the others will cease of themselves.

The Heart of Wisdom Sutra is Buddha’s most direct and succinct discourse about the nature of reality. It lies at the very heart of all Buddhist wisdom and a thorough understanding of its teaching is necessary for attaining an unmistaken view of the way we and the world actually exist—a view that overcomes ignorance and with that brings true liberation.

Through talks, meditations and discussions we will explore this central teaching of Buddhist wisdom.
