About the Teaching
Mundane or worldly concerns are things we think we must have in order to be happy, over and above our basic needs for survival. Many of them turn out to be misguided ideas that lead to greater anguish and anxiety, instead of peace, joy and contentment. In this workshop we look closely at the classic eight mundane concerns of pleasure/pain, material gains/losses, praise/blame, and having others’ good/bad opinions (or fame/disrepute). We will discern for ourselves whether it is possible to find genuine satisfaction apart from these eight and drop their burden that is weighing us down.
The workshop will feature brief explanations, guided meditations, and time for Q&A.
All are welcome; no prerequisite needed.
